Connect from Microsoft Copilot

Ask the alphabrand Data agent from Microsoft Teams or Microsoft 365 Copilot. An admin builds an agent in Copilot Studio once; users then sign in with their alphabrand account the first time they use it.

Before you start

RequirementWhy
Copilot Studio licence or trialTo create the agent
Dataverse provisioned on the environmentCopilot Studio stores the agent there
A pay-as-you-go billing plan, enabled on the environmentRequired before Publish
Microsoft 365 Copilot licenceOnly to surface the agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. Teams does not need it

Create the agent

  1. In Copilot Studio, create a new agent.

  2. Open Tools → Add a tool → Model Context Protocol.

  3. Fill in the connection:

    FieldValue
    Server namealphabrand
    Server URLhttps://api.alphabrand.ai/api/mcp
    AuthenticationOAuth 2.0, dynamic discovery
    text
    https://api.alphabrand.ai/api/mcp
  4. Sign in to alphabrand when asked. The consent screen may name the requesting client as "Credential Manager"; that is Copilot Studio's own name for the connection.

  5. In Settings → Generative AI, set orchestration to Generative. Without it the tools are never called.

Instructions for the agent

Paste this as the agent's instructions so it uses the tools in the right order:

text
You answer business questions with the alphabrand data agent.
Call list_workspaces first to find the workspace id.
Call describe_workspace once per workspace and use its terms in your questions; the agent applies the client definitions, scope and period itself.
Then call ask_data_question. Quote its assumptions next to each figure.
For a follow-up on the same topic, pass the conversationId from the previous answer.
Answers can take up to a minute; wait for them.
Share the "Open in alphabrand" link so the user can see the charts.

Publish

  1. Click Publish.
  2. Under Channels, add Microsoft Teams and, with a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence, Microsoft 365 Copilot.
  3. Share the agent with the users or groups who should see it.

Timing

Measured from Teams: about 30 seconds for a first answer, about a minute for a follow-up. Copilot Studio's tool timeout is about two minutes, so answers arrive within it.
